GMC SUV

The 2024 GMC Acadia is different – for the better – for the new model year. Many former optional features are now standard, and the body is taller, longer, and wider to provide a more spacious and enjoyable experience. Add the single, more powerful engine configuration for 2024 versus two less-powerful offerings in 2023, and you will see why the 2024 GMC Acadia is the best choice. Let Lester Glenn Buick GMC show you what is better about the new GMC Acadia.

Powertrain
For 2024, the GMC Acadia is offered with a single, more powerful engine than the 2023 version, which offered two engine choices but provided less power. The new GMC Acadia has a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Offering 328 horses and 326 lb-ft of torque, it outperforms the 2023 model by 100 horses over the four-cylinder and 18 more than the six-cylinder configuration, which is no longer available.

Performance and Capabilities
Front-wheel drive is standard, with available all-wheel drive should you prefer more extreme off-road adventures. The 2024 GMC Acadia carries a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs when equipped with the optional towing package, and if you’re curious about storage you’ll be happy to learn that minimum cargo space is now 23 cubic feet, almost double the 12.8 cubic feet in the outgoing model.

Safety and Driver Assistance
The 2024 GMC Acadia comes with many standard safety and driver assistance features. Every GMC Acadia features automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist as standard in both model years. But, for 2024, adaptive cruise control is now standard as well.

Infotainment and Connectivity
New for 2024, every GMC Acadia comes with a 12-speaker BOSE® stereo system and a 15-inch display that was not part of the standard offering for the previous model year. Of course, all the usual tech advancements are still standard.

GMC Truck towing an RV

Overloading your highly capable GMC truck can have some hefty repercussions. Like the posted speed limit, which indicates the maximum speed at which it is safe to drive, your GMC truck’s towing capacity indicates how much weight it is safe to pull. Lester Glenn Buick GMC explains the consequences of exceeding your vehicle’s tow rating.

What Happens if You Overload Your Truck?
In short, nothing good. Exceeding your tow capacity taxes every one of your vehicle’s systems and ultimately makes driving hazardous. The consequences include:

• Engine overheating, even for trucks with advanced engine and oil cooling features
• Damage to the suspension system
• Longer stopping distances and an increased danger of jackknifing if you have to stop suddenly
• Potential frame damage
• A higher risk of brake damage and blowouts

How to Determine Towing Capacity
Calculating a truck or SUV’s weight rating is a complex formula that includes your vehicle’s curb weight, frame strength, axle weights, and cargo weight. Before you reach for a calculator, we’ll give you two more accessible ways to find your vehicle’s limits.

The first is to use a VIN lookup tool that will give you most of your vehicle’s vital statistics. The other method is to check the driver’s side door jamb, where you’ll find a label with your vehicle’s VIN, GCWR, GVWR, axle weights, payload, and tow capacity. Trailers will have a similar tag either on the tongue near the hitch or in one of the wheel wells; don’t exceed their capabilities either.

Knowledge is power, and knowing the guidelines and towing capacities of your GMC truck can help extend the life of your vehicle. Each GMC truck has specific towing capacity limits. Learn more at our Toms River GMC dealership today!

GMC Service

Today’s GMC vehicles have a three-year / 36,000-mile basic and five-year / 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. If you’re reaching the mileage or time limit of those warranties, it’s time to visit Lester Glenn Buick GMC for GMC service. We’ll ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape before the warranty expires.

Scheduled Maintenance
Following the maintenance schedule for your GMC or Buick vehicle is the best way to ensure its longevity, and you should adhere to it even – or especially – once the warranty’s up. Consider a “fresh” oil and filter change before your warranty expires, allowing our service technicians to complete the usual periodic maintenance while giving you confidence your vehicle will last for years beyond the warranty expiration.

Schedule A Thorough Inspection
While you’re covering the service essentials, ask for a thorough multi-point inspection. Our technicians will go over the vehicle’s vital systems, identifying items that need care. Some of these will be consumables that aren’t covered by your warranty, but we’ll also ensure that any warranted items are identified and addressed.

• Powertrain condition and function, including engine and transmission checks
• Suspension inspection
• Checking belts and hoses for premature wear
• Braking inspection
• Battery health
• Electrical and HVAC system checks
• Fluid leaks

A note about maintenance: one reason (among many) that we suggest using a GM service center and OEM parts is that your parts and labor are covered in the rare event that something goes wrong. If we see that a component has failed prematurely, we can address it. However, if you’ve used aftermarket parts or had them installed by an unauthorized service center, we are not obligated to do so.

Brakes

Summer’s drawing to a close, and no sooner will the tourists head home than we’ll be driving our kids back to school and gearing up for holiday traffic. That makes August a great time to schedule GMC service for Brake Safety Awareness Month. Lester Glenn Buick GMC covers the basics of this essential service.

Understand Why Your Brakes Matter
Many vehicles advertise their power, capability, or fast acceleration times. However, your 60 to 0 time is more critical to your safety than your 0 to 60. It’s also worth remembering that no matter how advanced the safety features are in new Buick and GMC models, the brakes are still your car’s most important safety feature.

Know the Signs of Brake Trouble
Your owner’s manual lists suggested brake maintenance intervals, but your driving habits may mean a sooner visit. If you notice any warning signs, schedule an inspection and brake service immediately.

• Grinding noises when braking
• Squealing brakes as the vehicle stops
• A vibrating sensation as you brake
• Brakes requiring more effort or stopping distance
• The brake pedal feels different than usual

Brake System Service
When you visit for a brake inspection and maintenance, we start by inspecting the system for worn parts, leaks, and rusted or broken valves. Next, we’ll remove corrosion, replenish brake fluid, and check that other vital components are free of defects or issues.

Dog looking out a car window

Pets are a part of many Toms River families, and transporting them in the car is often necessary, whether it’s taking them to the vet, bringing them along on errands, or bringing them on a road trip. Driving with pets requires extra attention to ensure their safety and everybody else’s safety in the car. Here at Lester Glenn Buick GMC, our dealers are happy to share some GMC accessories and tips to keep your pets safe.

Secure Your Pet
One of the most important aspects of driving with pets is ensuring that they are secured. GMC sells accessories like dog boxes and cat carriers that can be securely fastened in the vehicle. This prevents your pet from roaming around in the car and distracting you from the road.

Take Frequent Breaks
Long road trips can be tiring for both humans and furry companions. To keep your pets comfortable, create a space for them in the backseat with their favorite blanket or toy. GMC sells pet beds and pads specifically designed for the car.

Consider a Pet Barrier
Some pets don’t take kindly to being secured inside a carrier. If that is the case, there is still a solution: a pet barrier. GMC pet barriers prevent dogs and cats from entering the front seat and causing distractions.

Avoid Feeding Before the Trip
If you feed your pet a large meal before the trip, it can lead to motion sickness. Instead, feeding them a light meal a few hours before departing is recommended.

Prioritize Safety over Distractions
While taking photos of your pet in the car may be tempting, doing so can be unsafe, especially if you’re driving while using your phone.

OnStar

Late last year, General Motors subsidiary OnStar® announced that older GM vehicles would no longer be compatible with OnStar and Connected Services. If you’ve come to appreciate and rely on the peace of mind provided by the service, this may come as an unwelcome shock. However, Lester Glenn Buick GMC is happy to explain how you can weather the change and even keep a form of service running.

Why Has OnStar Been Phased Out?
The shutdown stems from the outdated 2G cellular network the service relies on. Verizon no longer supports 2G, and the legacy hardware isn’t compatible with the newer 4G and 5G cellular technology. While new GMC models are unaffected, those driving older models will experience an interruption in service.

Which Models Have Been Affected?
This change affects GM models built during and before the early part of the 2015 model year. These include Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac vehicles and legacy brands like Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Saab.

What Should I Do Now?
If you have an OnStar subscription, you need not lose access to its emergency services, on-the-fly directions, and other features. The change has been a long time coming, giving GM plenty of time to develop an alternative.

To begin with, members impacted by the shutdown will see a reduction in their monthly bill to offset the loss of their in-car OnStar service. You should also know that our dealership’s parts department can install a Bluetooth adapter that will give you access to the OnStar Guardian app. With it, you can still get around-the-clock support from OnStar Advisors and access to much of the same functionality that OnStar provides.
